MARIO CANTÙ
Nella Basilica di San Marco, Impressione (pianoforte)
"Written in Venice in 1925, this is a very nice piece of mystical impressionism which is so typical for the Italian music of the 1920s. A bit in the style of Renzo Rossellini or even Gian Francesco Malipiero, this piece mirrors the dark, golden light of the St. Mark Basilica in Venice. If you want to add it to your program, it would go along nicely with other compositions depicting churches - Respighi's «Vetrate di chiesa», Satie's «Ogives» or Guerrini's «Passeggiata nel chiostro» (see below) for example."
Guerrini: La Passeggiata nel Chiostro (Spartito Bongiovanni)
Historical recordings
A collection focusing on historical singers in rare recordings - mostly in the form of “portrayals”. The singers featured here are the ones who have made opera legendary. Hence the name “Il Mito dell’Opera” - “Legendary Opera”
News from the Past
This series features rarely performed operas, symphonic music and chamber works. Many of these recordings were world première recordings. Hence the title “Novità del Passato” – they are all “News from the Past”.
Complete historical live recordings
This series offers complete recordings - always live, and always from the golden age. It is, obviously, the continuation of our series “The Golden Age of Opera” which has been very popular among aficionados.
